Caregiver Respite Services and Supports
Program Goals
To provide temporary relief for primary caregivers while also providing services and supports to adults with a developmental disability.
We understand the importance of a break for caregivers and their family members. Our goals is to provide a fun experience where the focus is on the individual’s interests and support preferences. Respite gives families or caregivers a break from their regular responsibilities and an opportunity to pursue their own interest. Their family member has the opportunity for a new experience and a connection to new friendships.
Service Objectives:
- To provide temporary relief to primary caregivers of adults with a developmental disability.
- To support the development of a personal Individual Support Plan (ISP) based on the principles of self-determination, social inclusion, citizenship and choice and to provide services that are reflective of this plan.
Service Description:
People Served
Services and supports are provided to, or for the benefit of, persons who reside in Ontario, are at least 18 years of age and have a developmental disability as defined by the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008.
Program / Service Features
Specific service provided:
Supports provided to adults with a developmental disability in their place of residence in the absence of the usual caregiver; Supports for adults with a developmental disability in a setting other than their place of residence; Services are provided by a person other than the primary caregiver for the purpose of providing temporary relief to the primary caregiver.
